Alasdair has extensive experience as a charity trustee. He is currently a trustee for Dunbar Dementia Network SCIO (2018 – ), Belhaven Surf Centre Ltd (2019 – ), and East Lothian Community Benefits SCIO (2024 – ). Prior to that he was a trustee for Dunbar Harbour Trust (2012 -2024) and Dunbar Sea Cadets(2013-2020).

He served his community as treasurer of Dunbar Community Council (2014-2025) and was Vice Chair of the Dunbar and East Linton Area Partnership (2024-2026)

Alasdair is a Chartered Accountant and lives in Dunbar where he is the treasurer of the History Society.
